Essays

Students have dug deeper to research the individual life of their genocide honoree. The essays start off with a short anecdote from their person's life and then go on to explain more about their involvement in the genocide and their life before the genocide.  The essays really explain the effects of genocide on individual people.  Enjoy the essays and remember the victims’ stories.

Shadowboxes

Through researching their honoree’s life, students have created a shadowbox to honor their genocide survivors.  The shadowbox contains different objects that relate to the victim’s life before, during, and in the case of survivors, after the genocide.  Not every object directly relates to the victim’s life but all of the objects are symbolic in some way.  Enjoy the shadowboxes and really look at the symbolism in them. A physical display of the shadowboxes can be found in the hallway between the Finkel and Houston Libraries.

Night Poems

Students made found poems using words from the book Night by Elie Wiesel.  His experiences in the Holocaust were very powerful and students did the poems on a certain topic that Elie Wiesel talked about in his book.  The poems are read with pictures relating to the Holocaust causing the poems to be really powerful.  Poems will be on display in the  hallway between the Finkel and Houston Libraries.
