As a Jew he was in the minority at the university because of the anti-Jew laws enacted in the 1920s. Also. the university wasn’t accepted as many Jewish applicants. Sandor Alexander Bokshorn was born on January 4, 1912. He was born in Budapest, Hungary. His father was a furrier in Budapest where Sandor grew up. Sandor Alexander Bokshorn was in a Jewish school until the age of fourteen. After Hebrew school he went to business school until 1929. Whenever he graduated business school he started to work for his father’s business. Sandor was Jewish, which made it harder than usual to get a job. He then spent the next year studying in the Sorbonne in Paris. He did that before entering the University of Budapest and studying economics.
In 1942, after finishing his doctorate he was drafted into the Hungarian Army for conscript labor. In 1944 the Hungarian army sent him to the Russian army front to build bunkers. After they retreated, he was taken captive by the Soviets and sent to POW camps. Life in a POW camp was strict and rough for any camp all across Europe and anywhere else that was affected by the Holocaust. But life was fair according to some people. It was rare for any prisoners to try to escape from the POW camps, and if they did try to escape then they would be shot on site. Those that survived in Russian POW camps were considered lucky since the POW camps there were really hard to survive in because of the extremely hard labor. After the war he went back to his house in Budapest where, hopefully, he lived a long, peaceful life. What actually happened to him is lost to history, like so many other affected by the Holocaust.
